Description

This Journey offers the experience of the whole range of the overwhelming nature and exciting history of Patagonia. Crossing of the Andes, on horseback and on feet we encounter mountains, forests, lakes, fjords, volcanic and steppe landscape, as well as various expressions of the pioneer life culture.

The first riding section leads into the huge, almost civilization-free, catchment area of the Turbio River inside the National Park "Lago Puelo", which is fed by 4 glaciers. The approximately 1000 km 2 large region is isolated from the rest of the world and accessible only by boat or mule tracks on which the Gauchos drive their cattle for generations. The 5 to 6-day riding route is divided into two possible destination to choose (depending on the group composition and weather conditions). The first tour-variant takes us to the turquoise-blue Lago Esperanza (500 m above sea level) on the border with Chile. The other leads to the Cerro Plataforma, a geological singularity, where the seafloor has risen up  50 to 30 million years ago to a huge, fossil-strewn, high plateau (about 1700 meters above sea level).

The second part of the journey consists of a 5 to 6-day hike to Chile, passing through Andean valleys into a pristine lake- and woodland region where high alpine terrain merge with the subtropical rainforest – the Selva Valdiviana. In addition to the breathtaking nature experiences, the participants will get an insight into the life of the typical settlers who have been emigrated to this lonely area generations ago.
